Frequently asked questions

MyReelProductions is a London based filming company specialising in producing Showreels, Voicereels and Self Tapes for actors.

Trust us, we’ve been there. Many of our crew are actors first hand so understand the frustrations of either not having a reel at all, or feeling your current material isn’t up to par.

A strong Showreel and Voicereel is a personal acting advert. We understand the importance and here at My Reel Productions, we deliver high quality, slick, bespoke reels, tailored to you.

Wimbledon/South Wimbledon, South London. A 15 minute walk from either tube station.
Full details on receipt of booking.

With more actors and less time at agents and casting directors disposal, it is vital you look and sound your best. Each Showreel is filmed in RAW using industry standard equipment and receives an extensive colour grade and audio mix in editing.

Direction is also vital. Each shoot is directed with your casting in mind to make sure every aspect of the shoot is a professional standard.

We will help you through the entire process, from guidance through the shoot to general advice post edit.

Absolutely. Assuming you don’t wish to provide your own. Upon booking, you will have a set of ideas pitched to you which you can then select from. A custom script is then written for you by one of our team specifically tailored for your casting.

Yes, however they must be sent over to us for review beforehand.

The scenes must be under 1 1/2 pages and be set in one unchanging location.

The scene cannot be taken from copyrighted material. However if you know the kind of material that you think would work for you. Feel free to send it to us and we will use it as a reference when writing your scene.

Not really. They are often miscast or not exactly what you’re looking for which can end up compromising the scene. Please feel free to enquire if you find yourself at a loose end, but generally our advice would be to contact friends (preferably actors).

Two actors per scene. Maintains high quality and a fast turnaround.

A single custom scene will usually take 3-4 hours minimum. Short rehearsal time and a chat beforehand is scheduled in so you feel comfortable and confident with what you’ll be doing.

You must make yourself available for the entire shoot. Reduced time will reduce the quality of the scene!

It varies, but often 2 minutes is a good length. Keeps it concice and focused on you.

It can vary, but generally filming typically starts at 9am/10am.

Unfortunately, we are only able to use locations that have no cost. Unless you are able to arrange them yourself (which normally excites us!) Please let us know upon enquiry if this is something you wish to do.

We most frequently shoot in public/ free to reign spaces (parks, fields, forests, quiet streets, etc).

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide this. We will only have basic powders and makeup on hand on the day of shoot. Though feel free to arrange somebody for the day of filming if you wish!

Of course! However we are unable to provide costumes so you will have to source them yourself.

Sadly, most period settings come with enormous hire fees so interior period shooting is often unachievable

It is likely to be shot in a rural area and  the context and the costume will tell the story and suggest time period.

Unfortunately not. Though we are more than happy to give you advice on the kind of thing that could work. For very speicific costumes, we can also point you in the direction of reputable costume rental shops.

We will NEVER write you a scene that requires mandatory renting of costume.

The standard turnaround is 7-14 days, though it normally gets to you faster.

The jury is out. Generally, our advice is to keep them short. It shoud show your ability and casting potential without dragging. Often no more than four minutes is advised.

Usually a WeTransfer link will be emailed to you upon completion- formatted for online use (Spotlight, Mandy, Youtube, Vimeo, etc).

For custom Showreel scenes, a 50% deposit will be required before the day of shoot. This is will only have to be paid when you are happy with the scripts and committed to the shoot day.

A showreel edit requires a 50% deposit before the work begins. You will then be sent a watermarked version of the footage which you are able to make changes to if you wish. Once you are happy with the result, the remaining 50% will have to be paid before the footage is released.

.mov, .avi, .mp4, are ideal, but drop us an email if you’re not sure. There’s always a way to make it work.

Two. We will send an intial draft which will include a colour grade and audio clean up. You will then be able to request changes. These will then be applied in a second edit and sent over to you digitally.

Of course! Drop us an email and we’ll be happy to lend a hand.

Bank transfers are ideal. Though we will accept cash if unavoidable. A detailed invoice will be sent over once you are happy and committed to the shoot day.

Yes, you can cancel your filming date, but you must let us know at least 7 days before the day of shoot.
