Frequently asked questions

MyReelProductions is a London based filming company specialising in producing Showreels, Voicereels and Self Tapes for actors.

Trust us, we’ve been there. Many of our crew are actors first hand so understand the frustrations of either not having a reel at all, or feeling your current material isn’t up to par.

A strong Showreel and Voicereel is a personal acting advert. We understand the importance and here at My Reel Productions, we deliver high quality, slick, bespoke reels, tailored to you.

Wimbledon/South Wimbledon, South London. A 15 minute walk from either tube station.
Full details on receipt of booking.

Here is a guideline of possible Self Tape circumstances you may have found yourself in and how to pick your session accordingly. Never be worried that we won’t get your tape finished. Sessions can always be upgraded or time can be added on after 1.5 hours.

30 Mins

-You only have one scene to film.
-You feel confident with lines or fluid on book if sight reading.
-You know the scene well and have a good idea of the direction you want the scene to go and simply need a little assistance getting it all put together quickly and cleanly.
-You want a quick Self Tape session and you’re happy with around 2-3 takes.

1 Hour

-You have more than one scene to film.
-You may not be 100% with lines or fluid on book.
-You want more time to discuss and work through the scene(s) in greater detail and experiment with different options.
-You want a relaxed Self Tape session where we’re free to do multiple takes.

1.5 Hours

-You have multiple and/or longer scenes to tape.
-You may not be 100% with lines or fluid on book.
-You want plenty of time to work through scene(s), develop and play around with character choices and experiment with the narrative and/or tone of the piece.
-You want a relaxed and detailed Self Tape session where we’re free to do multiple takes.

When you arrive, we’ll get settled and quickly have a chat about the scene(s) and any character briefs you may have been given.

We’ll then do a read through with either one of our readers or someone you’ve brought with you. This will help you re-familiarise yourself with the scene before we put you in front of the camera.

We’ll then put you in front of the camera. Adjust the lighting and microphones for you and we’ll be ready to begin.

Of course the amount of takes we do is entirely up to you, but in my experience the first 3 complete takes are normally strongest and often chosen to be edited.

We’ll then select the preferred take which will be colour graded and audio cleaned so you look and sound at your best and the finished Self Tape will be sent to you via WeTransfer within an hour of finishing the session.

Absolutely! If you have an actor/ friend who you’re more comfortable reading in with, or you’d just like the moral support; bring them along.

Rules are made to be broken. These are not strict conditions, simply general observations of what we feel often works best. If you have something you want to try out, don’t be afraid to do so!

What to wear?
A casting director will never want to see you in full Edwardian attire when going up for that period drama. Subtle hints are best.

Simple solid colours often work well and unless it’s appropriate for the character, snazzy patterns or large logo’s often serve as distraction more than anything else.

Blue or green eyes?
If it’s appropriate to do so, wearing a colour that is slightly darker than you’re eye colour can really make them pop on screen.

Try not to stress about what to wear! Feel free to bring options, we can always try them out on camera and decide which works best.

An extra copy of the script is always useful- alternatively you can email a copy to us prior to your session and it can be printed for you. Also, please bring any props or specific items that you might need for your Self Tape.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide this. We will only have basic powders and makeup on hand. Though feel free to arrange somebody to come along if you wish!

Bank transfers are ideal. Though we will accept cash if unavoidable. A detailed invoice will be sent over once you are happy and committed to the shoot day.

No problem. Email any other enquiries to and we’ll get back to you within a few hours.

If you have any other questions about a session, please feel free to contact us directly and we’ll be more than happy to help.
